Personal Account From Linda

Personal experience with change and transformation has been one of my greatest teachers. Rising from the ashes a few times in my own life, I have been humbled and strengthened by this process. It led me to the core of the work I do today.

In my work, I’ve seen people break down barriers built up over many years, find common ground, and create wonderful things together. I’ve seen workers who had been ignored by their group become valued employees. I’ve seen health care and educational institutions transformed from sterile, authoritarian environments to humane, democratic ones. I’ve seen people redeem themselves after society, organizations, and even their own families gave up on them.

I have been deeply moved by the work I do. The more I see, the more I want to be part of the change I wish to see. Passion begets passion, especially when you’re witnessing profound transformation.

Over the years, I have gained the skills and confidence to weave together my own unique way of working with others. I see myself as partner, midwife, teacher, coach, and participant.

It would be impossible for me to be involved in this kind of work with any integrity if I did not challenge myself to grow. I have worked hard to root out my own bias and confront my own barriers and shortcomings so I can be more present to those I work with.

My work has helped me imagine a world that is more locally and collectively organized—a place where people can live and work in community, walking in love, compassion, and service to others.
